In the past, the low-voltage power distribution rooms in chemical plants were located at the very edge of the chemical processing areas, as separate rooms within the same building. I wonder if this design is still feasible these days Are there any chemical industry standards that specify this?
It’s an old topic: there’s no problem if it’s in a non-explosion-proof area, but in an explosion-proof area it depends on whether it’s outside that explosion-proof zone.
Furthermore, the distribution rooms dedicated to Class A and B factories with a voltage of 10 KV or less can only be located on one side.
It mainly depends on the fire compartment classification of your workshop; if it is classified as Class A, single-sided attachment design is not allowed at present.
According to building codes, it is possible to create a dedicated power distribution room for this workshop; the voltage should be below 6 kV, and the room should not be located in an explosive area. It’s okay if there is a fire wall on one side of it.:o
According to fire safety regulations, distribution rooms for Class A and B equipment with a voltage of 10 KV or less can be built adjacent to such equipment, provided that the corresponding conditions are met (no openings, firewalls, etc.). However, they can only be used for power supply to that specific Class A and B equipment, and cannot supply power to other such devices.
