Most of the pumps and compressors used in our company’s facilities are process flow pumps, and experts have suggested that the inlet filters for these pumps should also be grounded – is this appropriate? 2. Pipeline pumps should be considered a minor subset of industrial centrifugal pumps of the OH type; according to the literal meaning of the standards, process flow pumps and compressors do not require grounding.
According to the standards, all metal equipment must be grounded. In fact, the grounding scheme is a matter of cost consideration. If the filter is large enough, it can be grounded. In fact, all metal pipe components in the process system need to be bonded to ground.
