When the current flowing through the bimetallic strip is too high, the heat generated causes the bimetallic strip to expand. Due to the significant difference in their expansion coefficients, this expansion leads to bending, which in turn triggers the contacts to close, thereby cutting off the circuit of the contactor and providing overcurrent protection.
