This type of distribution box is generally used in hazardous areas where explosions may occur. Its application range is quite wide; for example, explosion-proof distribution boxes are installed in the coal industry and at gas stations. So, what is an explosion-proof box? Explosion-proof boxes are types of distribution boxes that possess explosion-proof properties; they mainly include explosion-proof lighting distribution boxes, explosion-proof power distribution boxes, and explosion-proof and corrosion-resistant distribution boxes. Explosion-proof distribution boxes are mainly used in industries prone to fire and explosion, such as petroleum, chemicals, coal, pharmaceuticals, metallurgy, military industry, and textiles. Zone 1 and Zone 2: explosive gas atmospheres. Zones 20, 21, and 22: combustible dust atmospheres. Application areas for explosion-proof distribution boxes: 1. Areas with explosive gas hazards: Zones 1 and 2. 2. Gas mixtures: IIA, IIB, IIC. 3. Environments with flammable dusts: Zones 20, 21, 22. 4. Temperature groups: T1–T6. 5. Explosion-proof markings: ExdeII BT6, *ExdeII CT6. III. Usage methods for explosion-proof distribution boxes: 1. Determine the installation location and method of the lighting fixtures based on the actual lighting requirements of the work site; then prepare three-core cables of the appropriate length according to the distance from the fixtures to the 220V power supply point (if conduit wiring is used, the three-core cables should be guided through the conduit to the installation location of the fixtures). 2. First, remove the fixing screws on the wiring compartment and pull out the wiring part of the junction box; take out the sealing ring and connector (with set screw) from the packaging box, and insert them onto the cable in sequence. Then, connect one end of each three-core cable to the labels “L”, “N” and the ground terminal inside the box. Secure the cables using strain clamps, fix them with the setting screws, tighten the connector, press the sealing ring in place, and tighten the set screw from the side. 3. Screw the components from Step 2 into the steel tube, attach set screws from the side to secure them, then insert the lamp body along the guide rails of the junction box, and finally tighten the screws on the panel. 4. Finally, connect the other end of the three-core cable to a 220V power supply in accordance with the requirements of the explosion-proof distribution box. 5. When replacing the bulb, first cut off the power supply. Then, use an hex key to remove the set screw on the housing. Use a large screwdriver or other tool to loosen the lamp cover by 6 turns. Carefully remove the lamp cover by hand, unscrew the old bulb, and replace it with a new one.
There are two types of explosion-proof boxes: one type prevents an internal explosion from causing an external explosion, while the other type stops explosions altogether. If the functions are different, then the properties are also different.
