Explosion-proof electrical equipment is classified into Category I explosion-proof certification, Category II explosion-proof certification, and Category III explosion-proof certification, depending on the location where it is used. The Class I explosion-proof certification we are referring to is the certification document used for equipment in coal mines; it is generally used together with the equipment’s coal safety certificate. A Class II explosion protection certificate refers to the certification document for explosion-proof equipment used in non-mining explosive gas environments. For example, equipment used in petrochemical industries, gas facilities, oil depots, and similar locations. A Class III explosion protection certificate refers to the certification for explosion-proof equipment used in non-mining explosive dust environments. For example, equipment used in places such as painting, grinding, feed production, and food processing. It can be seen from this that the main difference among Class I, Class II, and Class III explosion-proof certificates lies in the different locations where the equipment is used. Qualified domestic explosion-proof certification agencies include Tianjin PPEC, Nanyang CNEX, Shanghai NEPSI, Shanghai Coal Research Institute, Changsha Mining Institute, Suzhou Electric Power Research Institute, Guangzhou Special Inspection Institute, and others. Currently, the domestic explosion-proof certification standards are mainly based on the GB3836 series. The original GB12476 (dust) and GB25286 (non-electric) series of standards have also been incorporated into GB3836. When applying for explosion-proof certification, enterprises need to provide technical documents such as schematic diagrams, assembly drawings, structural diagrams, corporate standards, and manuals; usually 1-2 samples are required.
