How to review PFD and PID diagrams? I hope the experts here can teach me the method.
Are PFD and PID diagrams created by design firms or manufacturing companies?
Points to note when reviewing the PFD: 1) Whether the main material flow is reasonable; 2) Is the setting of material points reasonable, and does it provide a basis for calculating materials needed for further work by downstream departments? ; 3) Have the contents to be displayed at the material point provided a basis for calculation for further work by downstream specialists? ; The information that should be displayed at the material point includes: the material status, the amount of each component (which can be expressed in terms of tons of product consumed, or consumption per hour or per day, along with the percentage contribution of each), the total amount, pressure, temperature, density, and average molecular weight ; 4) Final balance of the components required for the product (Product + Losses = Total amount of material components needed for the product) ; System water balance).
Points to note when reviewing a PID: For a PID from the basic design stage, the information should generally be quite complete. In general, the conditions necessary for carrying out construction drawing design should be in place; therefore, when reviewing the PID, one should not focus solely on the PID drawings themselves, but all related design documents should also be examined. Points that should also be noted during the review are: 1) Whether the main material flow rates comply with the PCD and PFD values (including flow velocity) ; 2) Check whether the indication of material entry and exit from the system area is clear ; Are the auxiliary materials available in full? ; Is the logistics direction correct? ; 3) Is the selection of the main logistics pipe diameter in the system accurate? ; Are the required valve settings and selections accurate and complete? ; Check if there are any special requirements regarding the piping (maximum distance, minimum distance, requirements for U-shaped or inverted U-shaped configurations, etc.) ; Whether the pipeline for starting and stopping the machine has been installed, etc ; 4) Are the setting of control points and the control scheme reasonable? ; 5) Is the selection of pipeline materials and their grade designation in line with the pipeline material grade table? ; 6) Whether the pipeline characteristics are represented correctly ; 7) Refer to the equipment condition diagram to verify that the positions and codes of the device connection points are consistent ; 8) Verify the calculations for heat exchangers and pumps (data sheet) ; 9) Setting position, set value of the safety valve, and data sheet ; 10) Verify other equipment conditions (drawings, data sheets) and instrument condition tables ; 11) Verify equipment name, tag number, and instrument tag number ; Check whether the function for checking control point settings meets the production requirements.
The design institute will handle it. PFD is the responsibility of the process engineering team ; PID is the responsibility of the system team.
