【Q&A Question 011】On January 11, 2018: How should used catalysts be stored after being removed, and why? Used catalysts contain metal sulfides such as iron sulfide; these sulfides are prone to oxidation when in contact with air, resulting in the formation of metal oxides. At the same time, a large amount of heat is released, and the sulfur oxides produced also pollute the environment. Therefore, used catalysts should be stored in an airtight manner to keep them separated from air.
