By design, the outlet of high-pressure reaction feed pumps requires two check valves; moreover, these two check valves cannot be of the same type. However, in the designs developed by Chevron and SEI, the pump outlet consists of one Y-type check valve and one Y-type electric valve, while the designs by Luoyang Institute and UOP feature two check valves at the pump outlet. Could it be a problem with the design philosophy of various design institutes? I would also like the experts to share information about their own systems – how is the outlet of the reaction feed pump designed in those systems?
There is also a question in this regard: what is the difference between a Y-type check valve and a Y-type globe valve? It seems that they don’t differ much in appearance.
There seems to be no standard requirements for this; it’s each company that designs it on its own. We have a set, and currently we are using an emergency shut-off valve
For ours, there is a single main quick-cut valve at the outlet of the two pumps; each pump’s outlet is equipped with an electric valve, a manual valve, and two check valves. It was designed by Huadong Institute (Qingdao); As for the basis, I think it is determined by safety analyses such as Hazop analysis conducted before the installation of the equipment
For double-check double-gate valves, in light of the accident at Jiujiang Petrochemical, it is safer to add an additional interlock cut-off valve
