I encountered it several times in the 1990s – at the Zhenhai Refining and Chemical Plant’s hydrocracking unit; it was probably made by SHENGU, and it was the first set of hydrocracking units produced in China. Every time the piston rod breaks, it hits the cylinder, and that sound is truly terrifying. Previously, operators would rush over to shut the machine down manually; now, remote shutdown has been added, reducing the risk.
The key is to see where it broke! ! ! That’s too general! ! Be more specific! ! !
Is it at the threaded part? ? ? At the shoulder? ? ? Or somewhere else! ! ! Areas with stress concentration tend to fracture, as do those with defects (internal cracks). Generally, piston rods need to be inspected using ultrasonic testing, while their threads require magnetic particle testing (for carbon steel piston rods)
Couldn’t the power be cut off in the distribution room back in the 90s? What was the situation at that time? Curious
Hehe, do you know how many revolutions per minute a reciprocating compressor has? The power needs to be turned off with the help of electrical personnel in the substation. What would happen if, by the time the electrical technicians arrived, the piston cylinders had been blown apart and all the high-pressure hydrogen had leaked out?
I’ve encountered this issue with new hydrogen compressors – the ones from Shenyang Yuanda – and in those cases, the machine stopped automatically as a result of the interlock protection system!
