Should the gaskets for the instruments on the lean liquid pipeline of the cracking unit be made of PTFE or brass? The previous unit was made of brass, and it started leaking within less than a month; there were also signs of corrosion. Does MDEA cause oxidative corrosion on brass?
In cases of corrosion, PTFE gaskets can be considered. Modified PTFE gaskets are suitable for temperatures ranging from -200 to 260°C; ordinary PTFE gaskets cannot handle such high temperatures, as they suffer from excessive creep and cold flow
