How long can the hydrogen production PSA adsorbent be stored after unboxing in air?
Adsorbents are usually filled right after being unpacked; at the very least, they are sealed in plastic bags so as not to be exposed to air for too long. This should help prevent moisture damage.
The adsorbents are only unpacked at the time of loading, in order to minimize the time they spend exposed to air. This is especially true for molecular sieves, which absorb moisture and generate heat when exposed to air; once moistened, their adsorption capacity drops significantly. After loading, it is necessary to use nitrogen for pressurization as a form of protection; the dew point of the nitrogen should be above -60°C.

Adsorbents generally need to be installed as soon as they are unpacked; attention should be paid to the weather conditions when installing them – it is not advisable to do so in humid weather, nor should they remain unpacked after being taken out. This is because when the adsorbent absorbs water vapor from the air, it does have an impact on its adsorption capacity, especially when high requirements are placed on the water content in the hydrogen product.
