What other components are present in the ammonium salt crystals that form in the air coolers and heat exchangers of hydrogenation units, besides ammonium chloride and ammonium hydrosulfide? Are there any other functions to water injection in hydrogenation units apart from preventing the formation of ammonium salt crystals?
The reactive water injection system is designed to prevent the crystallization of ammonium salts. The ammonium salts that crystallize in high-flow and high-pressure air cooling systems are mostly ammonium chloride and ammonium hydrosulfide; these two forms appear in different locations depending on their respective crystallization points
Generally, ammonium chloride appears in the last high-exchange stage, while ammonium hydrosulfide appears in the high-pressure air cooling stage
