1.2 billion yuan invested; important milestone reached in Inner Mongolia’s 300,000-ton coal tar hydrogenation project 2024-06-01 It was recently reported that the construction site of the 300,000-ton per year coal tar hydrogenation project in Ordos, designed by Shanghai Xinyou Energy Technology Co., Ltd., is in full swing, with intensive construction activities underway; currently, all the large components of the facility have been lifted into place. The project includes a 300,000 tons/year coal tar hydrogenation unit, a 35,000 Nm3/h coal-to-hydrogen complex, storage and transportation tank areas along with loading and unloading systems, as well as auxiliary and supporting facilities. This project utilizes advanced NUEUU® hydrogenation process technology and proprietary catalysts. By mixing medium- and low-temperature coal tar with certain proportions of waste engine oil, waste hydraulic oil, waste lubricating oil, and other materials, it achieves diversification of raw materials and their reuse. Moreover, the addition of waste engine oil, waste hydraulic oil, and waste lubricating oil increases the liquid yield of coal-based hydrogenated oil products, improves the lubricity of 2# coal-based hydrogenated oil, enhances product quality, and reduces energy consumption. The project is located within the Ulanmuren Industrial Project Area of the Ordos Shengyuan Coal Chemical Industry Base, in Ulanmuren Town, Yijinhuoluo Banner, Ordos City. It is situated on the existing site of Ordos Ulanxinrui Coal Chemical Co., Ltd. The plan is to use low-temperature coal tar, waste mineral oil, waste hydraulic oil, and waste lubricating oil as raw materials, and to employ the NUELU hydrogenation technology (with a capacity of 300,000 tons per year) to produce coal-based hydrogenated oils. A coal-to-hydrogen production facility will also be constructed. The main components of this facility include an oil hydrogenation unit (comprising a raw material processing unit, a boiling furnace hydrogenation unit, a fixed-bed hydrogenation unit, a product separation unit, a liquefied gas desulfurization unit, an acidic gas water extraction unit, etc.), a coal-to-hydrogen production unit (including a gasification unit, a conversion unit, a decarburization unit, a PSA hydrogen extraction unit, a sulfur recovery unit, etc.), as well as various supporting utility, auxiliary, and environmental protection systems. The total investment for the project is 1.2 billion yuan, of which 140.35 million yuan is allocated to environmental protection measures.
