As the title suggests, what is the function of the distillation section?
The function of the distillation section is to increase the concentration of the light components; by ensuring thorough contact and exchange between steam and liquid, more heavy components are condensed from the steam and returned to the bottom of the tower, thereby improving the purity of the product at the top. .
The purpose of this section is to evaporate as much of the volatile components in the material as possible. As the vapor moves upward, the concentration of these volatile components increases with each stage. Due to the addition of feed on the feed plate, the material balance in the distillation section differs from that in the stripping section below it; therefore, the analysis of a distillation column is generally carried out by separating these two sections. For complex towers with multiple feed inlets or intermediate outlets, they should be analyzed in segments corresponding to the locations of each inlet and outlet. At this point, it is not possible to simply divide the distillation column into a distillation section and a stripping section.
