According to China Petroleum Network (reporter Liu Zhijian, correspondent Wang Xiaopeng), on November 17, it was learned that the corporate standard for hydrogen energy safety developed by the Safety and Environmental Protection Institute under China Petroleum, namely Q/SY 08024—2025, has been officially put into effect. For the first time, this standard provides systematic technical guidelines for the safety management across the entire chain, process, and life cycle of China Petroleum’s hydrogen energy operations. It fills the gaps in existing domestic and international standards in the two areas of hydrogen energy module manufacturing and installation, and holds milestone significance for ensuring the safe development of China Petroleum’s hydrogen energy industry as well as contributing to the goals of \"dual carbon targets and three innovations.\" This standard was the first in the country to establish a safety management system that covers the entire life cycle of hydrogen energy, from \"inherently safe design\" to module manufacturing, installation, hydrogen production, storage and transportation, and utilization. The standards specify the key safety control points for China National Petroleum Corporation’s three main hydrogen production technology routes: hydrogen production from fossil fuels, hydrogen production from chemical feedstocks, and hydrogen production via water electrolysis. The relevant research findings have resulted in 2 EI-indexed papers that were presented at international conferences, highlighting the industry leadership and technological advancement of this standard; it provides essential support for the safe and stable development of China’s petroleum hydrogen energy industry. Industry experts say that the implementation of the \"Hydrogen Energy Safety Standards\" will serve as an opportunity to continue promoting the safe, efficient, and sustainable development of China’s hydrogen energy industry. Next, the team will deepen research on standards in the field of new energy safety, and by leveraging these standards to enhance risk prevention and control capabilities, it will lay a solid safety foundation for China National Petroleum Corporation to develop a green and low-carbon growth model.
