Can the torch system be implemented in a DCS system? Or use a SIS system to achieve control? Is it still only possible to use PLC control to solve it?
The flare system is generally located far away from the plant area; if the on-site instruments are connected directly to the DCS in the control room, there will be issues with signal transmission. A PLC can be installed on-site, and then the PLC signals can be transmitted to the control room’s DCS using fiber optics.
It is entirely possible to feed everything into the DCS. However, for larger projects with numerous control points, it is not recommended to send everything directly to the DCS as this results in higher costs; using on-site PLCs and transmitting signals via communication channels is a cheaper option. Some ignition and alarm signals can be sent to the DCS using wired connections
