The production and treatment of injection and production steam employ different technologies at various stages; with the use of vane separators, the dryness degree of the steam used for injection in oil fields increases to over 99%. The higher the steam dryness of the steam injection boiler, the more beneficial it is for oil and gas injection and production as well as post-treatment. Please discuss based on your own experience with the technical application of steam and water separation equipment in your installations.

Steam injection is a common method for oil and gas extraction in oil fields, and it is still being used in many oil fields across the country. In the past, due to the simple design of the internal components used in the steam-water separation equipment of steam injection boilers, these components were designed by non-specialized separation technology companies using a \"rough estimate\" approach; as a result, the efficiency of steam-water separation was low and the dryness of the steam was insufficient. The steam used in the earlier phases of the FNE oil field projects in Sudan, similar to what has been the case in China in the past, had a low steam dryness.

In previous steam injection boilers designed for oil fields, the operating temperature was typically between 295–300°C, the operating pressure was around 8 MPaG, the dryness of the steam entering the boiler was 60–70%, while the dryness of the steam exiting the boiler was 85–95%. The operating temperature and pressure of the drum are low, resulting in a low steam dryness.

In recent years, the drum of steam injection boilers used in oil fields both domestically and internationally has incorporated vane separators equipped with precise dynamic separation technology; as a result, the dryness of the steam injected has increased significantly, leading to savings in energy, water, and other resources. The owner of the Sudan FNE oil field project required the contractor Petro-Energy E&P Co. Ltd to use internal components with precise dynamic separation technology based on vane separators in order to increase the dryness of the injected steam.

The 4 sets of vaned separator internals that we designed for the oil field’s dedicated steam injection boilers at the request of the client have the following operating conditions: 1. Operating temperature: 353℃; 2. Operating pressure: 17.2 MPaG ; 3. Dry steam flow rate: 23 T/H ; 4. The liquid carried in with the steam is 15-25%.

The project owner requires us to precisely design and arrange the vaned separator components inside their spherical drum with a diameter of 1200 mm, ensuring that the steam dryness is greater than 99% and that the pressure drop does not exceed 1 kPa.

We have used specialized dynamic gas-liquid separation technology to accurately calculate and design the system platform, thereby completing the configuration design of the vaned separation internals. The relevant details are as follows: 1. Type of internals: G50 type vane separator; 2. Layout method: vertical diversion ; 3. Outlet steam dryness: greater than 99.9% ; 4. Operating pressure drop of the vane internal component set: 0.32 kPa.
