Whether acid gas from any route carries a large amount of water, it is catastrophic for sulfur; generally, the separation tanks at the front end are not sufficient to separate water vapor in a timely and effective manner. In such cases, the safest approach is to activate the interlock system.

Acidic gas contains an excessive amount of water: the normal vapor content of water in acidic gas is 5.8% (V), and the absence of condensed water has no impact on the equipment. However, if the water content in acidic gas exceeds 5.8% (V), it will cause an increase in the pressure within the system, fluctuations in the temperature of the reaction furnace, increased gas consumption by the equipment, and a decrease in sulfur conversion rate; in severe cases, this can lead to accidents. Therefore, the dehydration process in the acidic gas dewar tank must be strengthened to prevent acidic gas containing free water from entering the reaction furnace.
