8.5.9 Baffles can be installed at the reinforcement rings of the oil tank to direct the fire-fighting cooling water, thereby reducing the number of cooling water loops around the oil tank. Is there anyone who does this? Has it been verified whether the baffle effect can achieve cooling, and will it pass the fire safety inspection?
There are many projects that use guide plates, and the acceptance processes follow the relevant standards; those that meet the requirements set by the standards will pass the acceptance.
Our oil tank uses guide plates; there are only cooling spray pipes around the top of the tank. Below the 24-meter-high tank, there are five rings of guide plates, which are installed outside the wind-resistant ring. This design meets the requirements for fire safety inspections, and it helps to save water.
Agree with the opinion above; as a property owner, one should reduce investments and operating costs. The designers do not take this issue into account; fire protection designers adopt a conservative approach to design, and many additional measures are implemented as well.
