There are a wide variety of centrifuge separation equipment, and the numerous models and specifications of horizontal screw centrifuges can be quite overwhelming. It is fortunate that the centrifuge industry has established unified **standards** for the key parameters of these machines; by using a simple code for the centrifuge model, it is possible to obtain most of the important parameter information related to the centrifuge. This facilitates comparative analysis when selecting a centrifuge. Of course, the model codes not only provide a basis for comparing parameters during selection but also indicate the adjustments made to the centrifuges to adapt to the developments in the industry. Below, we will take horizontal screw centrifuges as an example to discuss the improvements and advancements in their use in the solid-liquid separation industry. Drum diameter of the modified horizontal spiral centrifuge: The drum diameter is a very important parameter for centrifuges. Analyzing the centrifuge model code LW450X2000, in the specifications code for horizontal spiral centrifuges, the drum diameter of 450 and the length of 2000 are the key parameters that characterize the performance of the centrifuge, highlighting its importance. In production, the larger the diameter of the drum in a horizontal spiral centrifuge, the greater the sedimentation area available for solid-liquid separation, which in turn results in a higher processing capacity. For example, Yangguang has designed a range of drum diameters tailored to the actual processing needs of different industries; alone, the diameter of horizontal spiral centrifuge drums comes in values such as 250, 300, 355, 400, 450, 500, 530, 580, and 650. This variety of options enables better adaptation of these centrifuges to the precise requirements of various separation processes. Drum length in the modified horizontal spiral centrifuge: A practical issue is that, due to limitations in materials and technology, the diameter of the drum in horizontal centrifuges cannot be increased indefinitely. To enhance separation capabilities, there is a trend toward increasing the length-to-diameter ratio. The current diameter of centrifuge drums ranges from 200 to 1000 mm. As the length of the drum increases, the length-to-diameter ratio of these horizontal spiral centrifuges also tends to increase, which in turn increases the time that the material spends under the action of the centrifugal force field, thereby improving the equipment’s separation performance. Modern horizontal spiral centrifuges now have a length-to-diameter ratio of 3 to 4 times, and there is a tendency to increase this ratio further as needed. High rotational speeds combined with high length-to-diameter ratios are among the trends expected in the development of centrifuges in the future. The feed mechanism in the modified horizontal spiral centrifuge: The feed mechanism of a centrifuge is an important component; it is responsible for removing waste materials during the separation process. A key issue in the design and manufacture of centrifuges is ensuring smooth waste removal. By carefully defining the spacing between adjacent helices as well as the semi-cone angle of the drum, it is possible to overcome problems related to blockages and ensure smooth waste discharge. As the market for horizontal spiral centrifuges expands and these machines become more tailored to specific industry needs, the trend in their development will be toward greater adaptability within increasingly smaller spaces.
I am using 3 UCD755 Keyevsvaria horizontal screw centrifuges; they have accumulated 95,000 hours of operation time, and they have replaced the previous rotary and plate-and-frame machines that I used for sludge dewatering! When these three machines were installed in 2006, they had the largest diameter in the country.
Plate-and-frame filters have relatively high mechanical strength; I wonder how they would perform for catalyst separation?
For centrifuges, some manufacturers can only use plate-and-frame types. . . . . . . .
In 2000, our factory produced the LW720 model; by 2006, the diameter of 755 was indeed the largest in China
