Material balance problems in petrochemical production units

Due to measurement errors, petrochemical plants experience material imbalances whenever they prepare material balance sheets on a monthly basis; processing losses are even more difficult to calculate. As a result, in order to satisfy management, artificial adjustments are made to achieve balance. Such material balance sheets, when used by financial staff for economic analysis of the plants, lack accuracy. What are people’s opinions on this issue?
For measuring equipment, first, the quality of the measuring devices must be good; second, the technicians responsible for calibration and maintenance need to be highly skilled; third, the personnel in charge of testing and measurement must be diligent and meticulous.
We usually don’t measure it here; the manager said that it’s whatever amount of hair there is. Are we supposed to not remove it if the measured amount is too small? So, there are no items that are measured at all
I just finished doing the material balance; it was done by working backward from the end. There’s no other way – this step is necessary in the new operating procedures.
