The fire separation distance between the liquid ammonia storage tank and surrounding structures should be 10 meters, but currently it is only 5 meters. Are there any remedial measures that can be taken?
Please refer to the interpretation of the provisions in GB50160-2008 (2018 edition), “1.0.2 This clause specifies the scope of application of this standard.” The standard content is primarily formulated in view of the flammable and explosive nature of the materials and products processed by petrochemical enterprises, as well as the high-temperature and high-pressure operating conditions. ”But it’s not easy to operate under the current safety production conditions!
The fire protection design of new petrochemical projects shall strictly comply with this standard. For coal-based chemical engineering projects, apart from the transportation, storage, and processing of coal, the subsequent processing steps are similar to those in petrochemical industries, and this standard can be referred to for implementation. The fire protection design for petrochemical projects that are expanded or renovated on-site shall first comply with these standards. When it is difficult to implement certain provisions of these standards, the requirements may be appropriately relaxed after effective fire protection measures are taken; however, a risk analysis and assessment must be conducted, and approval from the relevant authorities must be obtained.
