These are informal and unofficial opinions, for reference only. Usually, site selection comes first, followed by equipment layout, and then geophysical exploration. Near the foundation of heavy equipment, several additional points should also be selected for drilling or augering. Primarily, relative foundation treatment is carried out based on the geological conditions, and the foundation plan is designed according to the equipment’s foundation condition diagram.

Based on this assignment, we approach companies to carry out a detailed survey. If it’s new land for which nothing is known about the site conditions, I think it’s necessary to conduct a preliminary survey first to understand the underground conditions

The preliminary survey is generally carried out during the feasibility study phase, as part of the site selection process; its scope is broader than that of the detailed survey. Detailed surveying is carried out by a surveying agency upon receipt of a survey commission from the design institute, after the equipment layout plan has been finalized. The main task is to conduct a comprehensive geological assessment of the structure, type, distribution, slope, engineering properties, and variation patterns of various soil and rock layers at the site. Based on the detailed survey reports, the design institute develops the appropriate pile foundation design, determining the type of piles and the bearing stratum at the pile tips, as well as proposing the optimal values for pile length and diameter. The detailed investigation report will provide recommendations regarding the type of piles and the construction methods to be used, as well as the design values for the vertical bearing capacity, horizontal bearing capacity, and pull-out resistance of each individual pile.
Before starting formal pile driving, it is necessary to conduct pilot pile tests in order to further verify the accuracy of the detailed survey, as well as the Rationality of the pile foundation design, pile type, and pile length and diameter
