In a while, one of our crude oil floating roof tanks will need to be repaired. During the repair process, it is necessary to weigh the sacrificial anodes; if their weight is less than 85% of the original weight, they must be replaced. The problem is that I cannot find any information regarding the original dimensions and weight of the cathodic protection system: I can’t locate the manufacturer of the sacrificial anodes, nor do I have any technical specifications or drawings...
If it can’t be found, then replace it; otherwise, where will the money come from?

It’s not clear how many years it has been in use; given the large quantity, the cost is also high. If it meets the requirements, it can be used again; Since there are no original materials, here are some reference suggestions. 1. It is possible to inquire about the parameters for sacrificial anode protection used in storage tanks of similar specifications and with similar media in other companies (number, weight per unit, arrangement, protected area, material). If these are similar to those used in your case, a comparison can be made based on the weighing data. 2. The currently in use anode block can also be assessed based on its shape; if its overall contour is relatively intact, it indicates that little weight has been lost and it may not need to be replaced, otherwise it needs to be replaced. 3. It is also possible to consult a design institute, which can use formulas based on relevant parameters to calculate the weight of the anode blocks.
Things were in a complete mess when the factory was built back then; those who were involved in its construction either retired or changed jobs. We plan to determine it directly by using the shape... Find the longest dimension, multiply it by the other dimensions to get the initial volume, then use the displacement method to calculate the density, and that way we can determine the weight...
