Modern reaction vessels require sealed reactions; when discharging the contents after the reaction is complete, the exhaust valve must not be opened. If the exhaust valve is opened, the exhaust gases in the exhaust pipe will flow back into the reaction vessel during discharge, which is a very dangerous practice. So how are materials discharged from reactors operating at atmospheric pressure or under negative pressure? I currently install breather valves on top of the reaction vessels – for materials that cannot come into contact with air, the inlet of the breather valve is connected to nitrogen, while the outlet is connected to the exhaust system. I’m not sure if this design is appropriate
Maintain with nitrogen gas, but the flow rate must be controlled precisely to avoid overpressure.
Normally, nitrogen should be kept flowing; there’s no need to open the off-gas valve.
A tee is installed at the bottom of the reactor, with a horizontal inlet for introducing nitrogen or compressed air, to allow pressure control. Two valves are installed vertically; after purging is complete, close the purge valve and open the lowest discharge valve.
Adding a pressure reducing valve to the nitrogen pipe connected to the inlet of the breathing valve should do the trick
Exhaust is released because the gases inside the reaction vessel cannot be discharged directly into the atmosphere
It seems this approach is feasible; in this way, there’s no need to add another breather valve. I just wonder why a purge valve needs to be added
Generally, exhaust gases are directed into an exhaust gas recovery system; there is always a slight negative pressure within the exhaust gas pipes. During material discharge, nitrogen is introduced into the reactor to push the material out. Care must be taken regarding the pressure and flow rate of the nitrogen
Open the exhaust valve during the reaction phase, and close it before discharging the material. For reactions under negative pressure, use nitrogen to break the vacuum; use nitrogen to pass through the breather valve for gas protection
Is the exhaust pipe of the reactor connected directly to the exhaust gas collection system? ? Vessels for reactions at atmospheric or negative pressure should also have a certain pressure tolerance range, right?
