The balance device is an essential component of multi-stage pumps; it plays a key role in maintaining balance during the operation of these pumps. Below, we will provide a detailed analysis of the reasons why the balance discs and balance rings in multi-stage pumps wear out easily, as well as corresponding solutions, in the hope of helping people with the maintenance of such pumps. Reasons for wear of the balance disc and balance ring in multi-stage pumps and solutions: 1. Blockage of the balance water pipe, which reduces the pressure in the balance chamber and leads to wear. Method of detection: a. Reduction in the clearance of the coupling ; b、Increased axial movement ; c. The current increases, and it is unstable. Solution: Clean the balance water pipe. 2. Operating under high pressure for extended periods increases the pressure in the balance chamber, leading to wear. Solution: Select a different model or cut away part of the impeller to reduce the head pressure ; 3. Excessive compression of the mechanical seal, along with insufficient balance water pressure, leads to wear. Solution: Readjust the mechanical seal and its installation dimensions ; 4. The impeller and guide vane flow channels are not aligned, resulting in unbalanced axial forces and wear. Solution: Replace the impeller and guide vanes, and adjust the axis alignment ; 5. The gap between the balance disk and the balance sleeve is too small, and the shaft bearings are too tight, preventing the shaft from moving freely and resulting in wear. Solution: Increase the gap between the balance disk and the balance sleeve ; 6. An incorrect bearing model, or bearings and bearing bushes that are too tight, prevent the shaft from moving freely, resulting in wear. Solution: Replace the bearings (the N and NU series are generally used), and adjust the clearance between the bearings and bearing bushes so that the shaft can move back and forth ; 7. Excessive clearance in the coupling prevents the shaft from moving freely, resulting in wear. Solution: Readjust the coupling clearance ; 8. Incorrect coupling model, resulting in wear. Solution: Change the connection method; belt connections, sleeve connections, washer connections, gear connections, etc., are strictly prohibited. 9. Issues such as parallelism, concentricity, and deformation in the middle section of the pump body and the rotor can cause wear of the balance disk. Solution: Reshape or replace the pump body, the middle section, the rotor, and other related components. 10. Wear caused by leakage at the junction between the balance ring and the water outlet section. Solution: Check the balance ring, the water outlet section, and the junction area for issues such as erosion or deformation; methods such as applying glue behind the balance ring and installing O-rings can be used, but the use of paper pads is strictly prohibited. 11. A small gap between the rotor and the mouth ring prevents the shaft from moving freely, resulting in wear. Solution: Adjust the gap between the rotor and the mouth ring
