Dear colleagues, I have a question: In your companies, how do you classify the various operations involved in production? Our company classifies the operations in the production process into two categories – routine operations and critical operations – based on the importance of their impact on the production system and the significance of the equipment involved. For example, important process operations, as well as the start-up, shutdown, and switching of key equipment such as main transformers and other devices involved in start-up/stop procedures, are considered critical operations. Those operations that could cause the system to stop operating or lead to fluctuations in load are also classified as critical operations, while all other daily operations are regarded as routine operations. During the execution of critical operations, depending on their importance, relevant supervisors must be present to oversee them, whether on-site or at the DCS; for routine operations, it is sufficient for the personnel assigned to those tasks to carry them out directly. I’d like to ask my colleagues: how is the division done in your units? Are there any relevant standards or documents that govern this process? ? Or relevant definitions? When our department was established, it was organized in that way, with no relevant guidelines provided. Now the management wants to redefine it, and I can’t find any relevant regulations or documents to refer to, so I’m reaching out for help from everyone:(:(:(:(

Based on potential risks and possible consequences, the operation of production facilities is divided into four levels of operational management: 5.1.1 Level 1 operations a) Commissioning of new main production facilities or those that have undergone major technical upgrades. b) Start-up and shutdown of major production unit overhauls. c) Involves major operational processes such as the start-up and shutdown of multiple sets of facilities or the entire plant’s utility systems, as well as adjustments to important operating procedures. 5.1.2 Secondary operations a) include the start-up and shutdown of auxiliary production units. b) involve the start-up, shutdown, and switching of key equipment such as major production units. c) cover the commissioning of important new technologies, new processes, and new equipment. d) Important operational processes such as the maintenance of key control instruments and electrical equipment. 5.1.3 Level 3 operations a) Starting, stopping, and switching of the main process equipment in the production facility. b) For routine technical renovation projects or the commissioning of equipment, key operational processes such as the maintenance of control instruments and electrical equipment are primarily under control. 5.1.4 Level 4 operations mainly refer to the routine operational changes that are frequently carried out within the device.

Indeed, the classification of various companies is different
