Cangzhou Dahuahua’s hydrogen production via large-scale gas generation – waste gas recovery project put into operation. Recently, the waste gas recovery project for hydrogen production through large-scale gas generation at Cangzhou Dahuahua Juhai Company was successfully commissioned. It is estimated that this project can save 30 cubic meters of natural gas per hour, resulting in annual cost savings of around 500,000 yuan. During the production of large-scale gas generation units, in order to meet the process requirements of the carbon monoxide product gas, some of the hydrogen product gas must be vented. The process engineers at Cangzhou Dahuahua keenly recognized this energy-saving potential and innovatively proposed a technical improvement plan to recycle the vented hydrogen gas through specialized pipelines. During the project implementation, Cangzhou Dahuahua made further efforts to optimize existing resources, successfully upgrading all valves. This not only saved a significant amount on procurement costs but also shortened the project timeline, ensuring its efficient completion.
By recovering the vented hydrogen, how is it possible to save 30 cubic meters of natural gas per hour?
The general process involves the catalytic oxidation of natural gas to produce syngas, which consists of carbon monoxide and hydrogen. Subsequently, pressure swing adsorption is used to purify carbon monoxide and hydrogen separately. Due to the characteristics of pressure swing adsorption, some of the gas is vented. To save energy and reduce consumption, this vented gas from hydrogen production is recycled for decarburization purposes, thereby increasing the efficiency of decarburization through pressure swing adsorption. This approach helps to conserve raw gas and thus reduces the amount of natural gas used.
