To effectively carry out various activities during the Fire Safety Awareness Month, the Chemical Storage and Transportation Department of Lanzhou Petrochemical Company adhered to the theme of \"Fire safety for all, life first – Safe use of fire and electricity.\" Focusing on the development of skills related to the \"four understandings and four abilities,\" it took action in four areas: awareness, skills, practical application, and inspection, striving to shift the approach to fire safety management toward preventive measures and to build a solid \"firewall\" for storage facilities. Build a solid ideological \"firewall\" and tighten the \"main switch\" for safety. Ideology precedes action, and strengthening safety awareness is the first line of defense against risks. During the Fire Safety Awareness Month, the material storage workshop carried out fire safety education for all employees through various methods such as specialized training on fire safety knowledge, review of case studies, and safety presentations, with a focus on reinforcing the core mindset of \"everyone talking about safety and everyone knowing how to respond in emergencies.\" Considering the characteristics of toxic and hazardous materials such as used catalysts and chemical raw materials present in the workshop, professional technicians were organized to conduct in-depth analyses of the risk factors associated with these materials, as well as the key points for their control and emergency response measures. Special training sessions were held for all employees to ensure that everyone understood that \"there are no trivial matters when it comes to safety, and responsibility is of utmost importance.\" This approach helped to eliminate any sense of complacency and strengthened the commitment to safety among all employees. Strengthen the \"hard foundation\" of skills and develop genuine emergency response capabilities. In terms of fire safety, emergency preparedness is of paramount importance. In light of the fact that front-line storage staff are in direct contact with chemical raw materials, the material warehousing workshop carries out skill-improvement initiatives that are tailored to specific job roles and aimed at achieving precision in work performance. On the afternoon of November 20, a fire emergency drill simulating a fire in a chemical raw material warehouse was carried out intensively in the storage area of the refinery. At the drill site, upon the order given by the workshop’s emergency commander, each emergency team took action immediately, thereby establishing an efficient and coordinated rescue system. The production and disposal team alerted the authorities immediately, took action to control the initial emergency, halted all operations in the surrounding area, and adjusted the production processes ； Fully equipped, the emergency response and cleanup team quickly cut off the non-essential power supplies in the warehouse, brought along stretchers and fire extinguishers, went deep into the warehouse to rescue those who had been poisoned, and fought the fire ； The safety and environmental protection team wears positive-pressure air respirators, sets up isolation dikes around the drainage areas, and monitors in real time the concentration of harmful gases in the air, providing critical data support for decision-making ； The logistics support team quickly sealed off two key intersections, set up warning lines, and directed fire and emergency vehicles to enter the area swiftly ； Under the unified coordination of the workshop’s chief commander, each team swiftly carried out key tasks such as extinguishing the fire, providing medical assistance, coordinating production activities, and ensuring environmental protection. This demonstrated the advantages of the emergency response mechanism based on unified command, hierarchical responsibility, and coordinated action, and effectively verified the rapid response and collaborative capabilities of the various emergency teams in the material storage workshop in the event of a fire in the storage area. The employees involved gained familiarity in real-world scenarios with the performance parameters and operating procedures of various fire-fighting equipment such as fire extinguishers and fire hydrants. Special emphasis was placed on training in techniques for extinguishing fires at an early stage – from identifying the fire and controlling its source to using the appropriate equipment – to ensure that every employee is able to retrieve the necessary equipment, use it correctly, and extinguish the fire effectively in the event of a sudden fire, thus transforming their professional knowledge into practical skills for ensuring safety. Thorough inspections to eliminate hidden risks, and proactive measures to lay a solid foundation for prevention. It’s better to conduct inspections in advance rather than trying to fix problems after they arise. The material storage workshop regards the identification and rectification of potential hazards as a top priority for fire safety. Taking this \"Fire Safety Awareness Month\" as an opportunity, it has launched a special campaign titled \"All Staff Involved in Identifying Hazards.\" Focusing on key areas and critical processes such as material storage, loading and unloading operations, electrical equipment, and fire protection facilities, employees are encouraged to shift from being \"bystanders\" to \"participants\" and proactively identify potential safety hazards around them. To date, the workshop has identified and rectified more than 10 various safety hazards, including those related to fire protection facilities, electrical wiring, cargo storage, and safety passages. A comprehensive management system covering \"identification, registration, rectification, and verification\" has been established; for each identified hazard, specific persons are assigned responsibility along with deadlines for rectification, in order to prevent and reduce fire incidents at their source and ensure that no safety hazards can go unnoticed. The workshop continues to strengthen the construction of a fire safety culture, integrating the principle of \"prevention first, combined with prevention and suppression\" into every aspect of daily work. It ensures that the skills of \"understanding four aspects and being able to do four things\" become essential for all employees. With a strong sense of responsibility and effective preventive measures, everyone works together to safeguard fire safety in storage and transportation, thereby providing a solid safety foundation for the company’s high-quality development.
