On January 15, the petrochemical industry standard \"Technical Specifications for Intelligent Inspection of Petrochemical Plants Using Robots\", proposed by the Natural Gas Purification Plant of Puguang Branch of Sinopec Zhongyuan Oilfield, successfully passed the approval review by the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Petroleum Products and Lubricants. This significant advancement marks a crucial step forward in China’s efforts to standardize intelligent inspection practices in the petrochemical industry. As the wave of intelligence and digitalization sweeps through the industrial sector, using robots for equipment inspection has become an important technological approach for the petrochemical industry to enhance intrinsic safety and optimize operational efficiency. However, there had previously been a lack of unified and authoritative technical standards in the industry, which to some extent restricted the large-scale adoption and standardized application of this technology. Leveraging its own experience and technical advancements in the field of intelligent inspections, this natural gas purification plant was able to facilitate the establishment of the \"Technical Specifications for Intelligent Inspection of Petrochemical Plants using Robots\" – a crucial step that addresses the urgent needs of the industry and fills existing standard gaps. This standard aims to clarify the system design, functional requirements, performance indicators, testing methods, implementation procedures, and safety specifications for intelligent robot inspections within petrochemical plant areas, providing a scientific basis and technical guidance for the design and manufacturing, selection and acceptance, deployment, and operation of related equipment. Its development and future implementation will effectively promote the more reliable and efficient use of robot inspection technologies in various petrochemical facilities, reduce the safety risks and labor intensity associated with manual inspections, and enhance the automation, precision, and intelligence level of facility operation monitoring. It serves as an important technical foundation for the industry’s transition toward \"smart factories\".
