The magnitude of breathing losses is related to the structure of the tank; even with a dome-shaped tank, the daily loss is not several tons. In accordance with the regulations for the petrochemical industry and the design standards for oil storage tanks, liquids of Class A B and Class B A should be stored in floating-roof tanks or nitrogen-sealed tanks. The theoretical breathing loss for such tanks is 0, or extremely low. If there is no oil leakage, the possibility of oil cross-contamination is high.

We also face this problem: for some unknown reason, the quantity of the cargo is incorrect. The boiling point of MTBE is only 55.2 degrees; first, check whether there are any issues with the breather valve of the storage tank, and then examine whether the glass elements of the foam generator are damaged. If there is damage, the situation will be much better in winter; whereas in summer, when a 5,000-cubic-meter storage tank that lacks insulation is filled to capacity and exposed to strong winds throughout the year, the risk of cargo damage increases further. If nothing else works, use nitrogen sealing to maintain a slight positive pressure inside the storage tank.
