The water content in the reflux tank at the top of the catalytic stabilizer is extremely high, and it comes in bursts; sometimes, even with the acid water control valve fully open, it’s not possible to drain all of the water. The temperature at the bottom of the desorption tower has reached 132 degrees, and there is no C2 in the liquefied gas, indicating that the desorption process is effective. Where does the water in the reflux tank come from?
Is the bottom reboiler heated by steam? Is the reboiler leaking?
In addition to the issue of the reboiler leak mentioned on the second floor, the separation problem in the liquid separator at the compressor outlet should also be considered. If this phenomenon appeared suddenly recently, it is recommended to check the level gauge of the liquid separator; water carried by the condensed oil (the acidic water used for washing the rich gas) may be ending up in the stabilizer tower.

Check if the liquefied gas return cooler is leaking.
First, is it possible that there’s a leak in the reboiler at the bottom of the stabilizer? Usually, it’s related to the oil in the first stage of distillation; therefore, this situation generally does not occur. The temperature at the bottom of the separation tower is not low either. If water is present in the liquefied gas, it might be because the liquefied gas coolers are arranged in parallel, and due to pressure fluctuations, the flow through these coolers is not uniform, resulting in intermittent changes in pressure and temperature after cooling. Additionally, there might be a slight leak in the coolers, which is why water is released in pulses
This post was last edited by dqkwb on 2017-2-22 20:38. The pressure in the stabilizer tower is relatively high. It can’t be steam or a cooler leak. Since the stable pressure is around 1.0 MPa, the steam pressure also maxes out at 1.0 MPa, and the cooling water pressure is even lower. How could it get in? I think it’s likely that the level sensor of the gas-liquid separation tank after the after-cooler at the compressor outlet is malfunctioning and showing a too high value, which is causing water to be carried along. Or it was carried away by the washing water. It’s possible as well on the sixth floor, but they won’t carry water all the time.

In addition to the reasons mentioned above, normal stabilizer top reflux tanks are equipped with a fresh water supply line; at the inlet of the reflux pump, we should check to see if there is no blind plate in place and whether there is any internal leakage in the valve
The heat exchanger is located on the ground, and a small amount of water accumulates inside it; over time this can affect the heat exchange process. Liquefied gas carries some of this water to the return tank, which is why there are intermittent flows of water. It has no impact on the subsequent multiple water cuttings by the device.
