What should be done if the bottom temperature of the distillation column remains constant while the top temperature keeps dropping?
Your overall tower pressure drop should have increased
First, check the pressure at the bottom of the tower to see if there is pressure buildup there. Packed tower? Is the filler a bit clogged? If not, check whether there has been any change in the feed composition – perhaps the proportion of light components in the feed is too high
A distillation tower is a system; one or two parameters alone are simply not sufficient to describe it clearly. It is necessary to specify the parameters related to the feed, product flow, reflux, and various points within the tower in order to make an assessment
