What is the term used to describe that grid-like structure on the upper exterior surface of certain towers? What is its function? Under what conditions (or what operating scenarios) does the accompanying tower need to be designed in this way?
Are you referring to the guardrails on the maintenance platform? This is a maintenance platform suitable for cleaning tower trays and replacing the packing inside the tower, along with ladder guardrails. Does this also need an explanation?
What you’re referring to is the platform railing; I’m asking about the one on the tower body. Take another look at the pictures – that area, which from a distance seems to be an access hatch, has several horizontal and vertical grids (or plates) on its surface. Many towers have this kind of structure on their upper parts, though the size of these structures varies, as does the number of grids. I want to know the name of this area and its function

(Relatively speaking to the tower), shouldn’t the lifting lugs be located at the symmetrical raised area in the middle of the top of the tower, where there is a hole? Note that I’m referring to the parts that appear to be manholes at first glance; also, the distance is such that the image isn’t clear. Let me see if I can take a picture that’s clearer. Is this clear enough? It is made in a mesh pattern, which is equivalent to having reinforcing plates inside, making it less prone to deformation.
The grid-like structure in the middle is the welded shaft lug gusset plate. It needs to be welded
