Which company in the world currently has the largest annual production capacity for polyoxymethylene per unit facility, and what is that capacity?
Recently, the annual production capacity of 40,000 tons of polyoxymethylene in Kuqa, Xinjiang’s “new oil city,” began construction; this facility will also produce 100,000 tons of methanol and 120,000 tons of formaldehyde. It is expected that once completed, this project will become the largest polyoxymethylene production facility in China. The project was invested and constructed by Xinjiang Xiangli Co., Ltd. in collaboration with Xinjiang United Chemical Industry. With a total investment of 1.27 billion yuan, its designed production capacity is 40,000 tons per year of polyoxymethylene, 100,000 tons per year of methanol, and 120,000 tons per year of formaldehyde. It is expected to generate annual sales revenue of over 500 million yuan and profits and taxes of over 200 million yuan. According to Xinjiang United Chemical Co., Ltd., the main raw materials and fuel for this project are the abundant natural gas in the Tarim Basin, with an annual consumption of around 200 million cubic meters. The first phase of the project is expected to come online in October next year. In recent years, Asian countries such as China and South Korea have shown a strong demand for polyoxymethylene; currently, there is a gap of about 100,000 tons per year in the domestic market for this material. Kuqa County, located in southern Xinjiang, is a newly emerging \"oil city.\" In 2006 its crude oil production was 5.5 million tons, and it already has a number of chemical industry projects, including those for refining 2.2 million tons of oil and producing 300,000 tons of synthetic ammonia. In 3 years, the oil and gas production equivalent in Kuqa County will reach 10 million tons, placing it among the top oil and gas-producing counties in the country.

In China, Shanghai Lanxing is the first company in this field; its first-phase project has been successfully put into operation, with an annual production capacity of 40,000 tons, although the actual production capacity is 60,000 tons per year. The quality of its products is second only to those produced by DuPont in Zhangjiagang. The second and third phases of this project are set to begin soon, and it is expected that by 2010 the annual production capacity will reach 200,000 tons, making it a global hub for polyoxymethylene production. Additionally, there are other companies in China with annual production capacities of 30,000 tons each, such as Yuntianhua, as well as DuPont and Boron with capacities of 20,000 tons each. It is reported that Tianjin, Henan, Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, and Ningxia are also planning to launch similar projects
