The main raw material for production is formaldehyde. Polymethanol is an important thermoplastic engineering plastic with a specific gravity of 1.42; it offers good colorability and results in products with a pleasant luster. Polymethanol resin possesses excellent overall properties: it has good fatigue resistance, a high elastic modulus, as well as resistance to twisting, abrasion, and self-lubrication. Its other properties, such as impact resistance, are also very good. It is mainly used in various fields such as the electrical and mechanical industries, light industry, automotive industry, and piping. Polyoxymethylene is an important general-purpose thermoplastic engineering plastic. It features a low density, good impact strength, fatigue resistance, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, self-lubricating properties, and excellent electrical characteristics. It also has low permeability to gases and water vapor as well as to chemical agents, and is widely used in various fields such as the automotive industry, electronics, industrial equipment, agriculture, and consumer goods. Polyoxymethylene products can be divided into two main categories: homopolymerized polyoxymethylene and copolymerized polyoxymethylene. Due to its excellent physical properties and processability, copolymerized polyoxymethylene has become the direction for the development of polyoxymethylene resins.
There are currently three main sources of technology for polyoxymethylene in China: Poland, Fuyi, and KEP
