What determines the selection of process flow pumps? Is it the medium, flow rate, head, or something else? What is the relationship between them? Are there any corresponding calculation formulas or ways to understand it? What do the letters in the pump model represent? What determines the diameter of the inlet and outlet pipes indicated by the numbers on the pump model? I’m a newcomer and I don’t know how to ask. Please point out any mistakes; thank you
What I know: Selection of metering pumps. What kind of medication you are using, your flow rate, as well as the pressure at the outlet and inlet ends are all required. What kind of motor is needed (explosion-proof? Ordinary? Variable frequency? ) As for other types of pumps, I don’t know. .

First, it is necessary to determine the chemical and physical properties of the medium; the chemical properties determine the type of material that can be used, while the physical properties determine the type of pump suitable for use. As you mentioned, for 32% caustic soda, there are a wide range of materials available – metal such as 304 can be used, or non-metallic materials like fluoroplastics can also be employed. Caustic soda tends to crystallize, so pumps that are not suitable for handling particles, such as magnetic pumps, are not recommended. Saturated brine is the same; it can cause the formation of precipitate particles, and thus it is not suitable for pumps that are sensitive to particles, such as magnetic pumps. Based on 200 cubic volume, it can be roughly estimated that the minimum inlet diameter of the pump should be DN125 or larger, at least 150. The outlet pressure of the pump is roughly proportional to its head; at 4 MPa, the head is 400 meters. It’s difficult to choose a pump for this application, as the required head is too high. This is my personal opinion; please take it as a reference. Waiting for additional information from other experts.
I really want to help you. I asked my supplier of metering pumps, and they said that this metering pump cannot meet the requirements. Another pump might be needed to meet the requirement.
The flow rate is determined based on material balance, while the head is determined by the pressure drops in the pipes and equipment within the system.
For this case, you need to choose a screw pump or plunger pump, as the pressure is too high
