Has anyone repaired a Geditnas vacuum pump?
What type of vacuum pump: water ring, claw, screw, rotary vane, water jet, reciprocating?
We have used water ring pumps, and we have also seen the maintenance technicians disassemble them
What problem? Nash water ring vacuum pumps, cavitation problems – we have repaired many of them!
We’ve taken it apart, and inside there’s a thick layer of something that resembles ceramic; it’s probably water rust, but it’s different from ordinary water rust and is very difficult to remove
It is recommended to use sandblasting to remove rust; if any defects are present, they should be repaired using imported polymer materials, after which a super-smooth coating should be applied to prevent cavitation and, to some extent, also to prevent scaling.
This ceramic-like substance is definitely scale, caused mainly by high levels of calcium and magnesium ions in the water. It is recommended to use acidic descaling agents for descaling (oxalic acid can cause deformation of the impeller blades); sandblasting is very difficult, so a completely manual approach should be employed. To prevent scaling, it is recommended to use a polymer composite coating; this not only prevents scaling but also resists cavitation, helping to maintain stable vacuum levels. We are using the water ring vacuum pump mentioned by the original poster. During maintenance, there is a thick layer of scale inside it; high-pressure water is usually used for cleaning it. We are also seeking advice regarding corrosion prevention measures inside the pump, but most pump manufacturers disagree with such approaches
