The impeller of the cooling water circulation pump must have a NPSH of 5.7 m; it is capable of self-priming, with a priming height of over 1 meter.
Reduce installation height and medium temperature
By replacing the pump with one equipped with 4 motors, the net positive suction head can be significantly reduced. The impeller is made of stainless steel or 1cr13
We cannot resolve issues related to processing and installation, but regarding cavitation, we can address the defects caused by it and extend the equipment’s lifespan. I’m not sure if images can be uploaded>. As follows:
Change the material and enhance monitoring during operation; stop the pump promptly when a low liquid level is detected
How is it working after the repair? Are there any photos of the pump being disassembled again after repair?
This post was last edited by foam_ZPTK on 2018-3-14 at 15:00. It’s no problem to extend the usage period once more. I have the photos, but there are upload restrictions – only two can be shown! The equipment is from a water treatment plant; these are photos taken after it was repaired, showing the impeller operating normally after one year. It turned out that cavitation was extremely severe, and the blade shape had been lost; therefore, the factory wasn’t at ease either, so they opened it up to take a look after a year. It turns out that a cast-iron impeller only lasts 2-3 years before it deteriorates back to its condition before repair. After one year of operation, small cavitation spots appear in the areas most prone to cavitation; these spots only affect the protective coating, without damaging the actual material of the impeller. If you want detailed information on the case, you can send me a private message on the forum.
The product upstairs is quite similar to a well-known British polymer product; it performs very well in terms of preventing cavitation in pumps. It also features energy-saving and wear-resistant coatings, and many related research papers can be found online.
It shouldn’t be a problem related to the manufacturing process given how serious it is; however, the employees responsible for on-site inspections clearly lack responsibility and discipline. The pump must be making a lot of noise – why wasn’t this reported and addressed in advance? When using materials resistant to cavitation or a pre-installed inducer wheel, it is advisable to consider the installation aspect.
I would like to learn more about energy-saving features of paint coatings. Can I get in touch with you?
