Is this a valve? If it’s a valve, what type is it?
I’ve never seen this legend before; it seems that an electric valve is the most likely option – it’s not a ball valve, globe valve, gate valve, or butterfly valve
z denotes a butterfly valve, and M denotes the motor driving force. So it is an electric butterfly valve
If I remember correctly, a butterfly valve seems to be something that looks like a square with a diagonal line on it
It’s best to check the legend section in the drawings, where the explanations are provided. Different design firms do not use legends in exactly the same way.
That’s how it’s marked on Baidu Wenku; perhaps different design institutes don’t use the asterisk symbol in a consistent manner
