Large inflows and small outflows; no special requirements
Suction pumps require slightly more straight pipe sections than single-suction pumps; single-suction pumps generally need 3–5D of straight pipe, while suction pumps need 7D, or it is advisable to consult the manufacturer for guidance
The industrial pump selection manual states that, to ensure the axial symmetry of the fluid at the inlet, there should be a straight pipe section with a length of at least 7 times the inlet pipe diameter away from the pump’s inlet flange.
If the inlet is an elbow, guide vanes need to be added
Exports shouldn’t be affected, right! Still need to choose between 2D or 3D elbows
Export is not affected, but you need to install a check valve to prevent water hammer
I agree with the view of the foam moderator: generally, the inlet should have a straight pipe section of at least 3 times the diameter of the pipe. Otherwise, it is easy to generate a radial force on the rotor, leading to vibrations and other issues that are detrimental to the pump’s operation.
Export settings – Are 1.5D elbows allowed? I know about check valves; generally, are they placed before or after the valve? Should the check valve be installed first at the outlet, or the valve first?
For export, when using 1.5D elbows, you need to consider pipeline support: pump outlet – pipe (with a pressure gauge connected to it) – check valve – valve
