There is a tank at the inlet of the water ring vacuum pump. I don’t know what it does? As shown in the picture
That is the gas-liquid separator at the outlet of the water ring pump. I can learn it by myself.* Lower water ring pump system
Separating tank plays the role of vapor-liquid separation
Gas-liquid separator can also be called buffer tank.
Our factory has recently started an oil and gas recovery project. It is said that the clean oil sealed loading system draws a large amount of clean oil. Originally, there was no liquid separation tank at the inlet of the water ring vacuum pump, so we are considering adding one.

This kind of vacuum pump generally has three ports, one is the vacuum port, one is the water injection port, and the other is the gas-liquid mixing outlet. Before the water ring pump is opened and during operation, water needs to be continuously replenished into the pump, so that the water ring vacuum effect can be formed in the pump. When the vacuum pump is running normally, the extracted gas is mixed with a part of the water in the pump and is also discharged into the tank. The gas-liquid separation is carried out in the tank. The gas is emptied from the upper part of the tank, and the water falls on the lower part of the tank to continue filling the pump. Therefore, the water in the tank is recycled to achieve self-sufficiency and save water. When the vacuum reaches the required level, the valve should be closed or the pump stopped to prevent the pumped-up medium from circulating useless in the vacuum pump and filling the inlet tank and overflowing. In the picture, the height of the tank is a bit low compared to the pump inlet, which means that the water under the tube inside the tank is not utilized, so the tank should be raised, and the tank is also a bit large. A liquid level gauge should be installed on the tank to regularly check the liquid level in the tank and replenish it in time to prevent damage to the vacuum pump.
