In the standards and specifications for many pump products, there are provisions regarding the duration of the continuous operation test for pumps, as well as requirements for collecting data such as vibration, noise, temperature, and seal leakage. May I ask the experts: does the pump operation test time include the time required for hydraulic performance testing of the pump?
In my personal opinion, it shouldn’t be included. Hydraulic performance testing involves evaluating whether the pump’s performance meets the technical requirements by using several different flow rates that have been agreed upon in advance and selected, such as the minimum continuous stable flow rate, the rated flow rate, and the maximum allowable flow rate. Operation tests are primarily used to evaluate the performance of the pump over several hours of continuous operation, in terms of bearing temperature rise, vibration, seal leakage, etc.; they are usually carried out separately after the hydraulic performance tests. Of course, for practical reasons related to work, many manufacturers* prefer to inform the client to conduct the performance tests and continuous operation tests together as part of the equipment acceptance process for performance evaluation.
The performance testing of the pump is carried out by the pump manufacturer.
You can decide the time yourself; don’t be so rigid, okay? If you really want to conduct a test, there’s a 4-hour runtime test available
Regarding the performance tests and mechanical operation tests mentioned by the poster, if both are required, they can be carried out simultaneously to save time.
