What is the specific impact of the starting torque of a mechanical seal on pump startup? Could it cause a sudden leak, or could the moving ring get stuck and stop rotating suddenly?
Torque is present in all moving equipment. If it exceeds the design limits, it will cause damage to the equipment.
Torque is a radial force (not quite accurate to say that). The moving seal ring relies on the axial force of the spring; the two are not closely related. It is sufficient to ensure that the seal installs smoothly in the axial direction and that its end face is perpendicular to the shaft. Then there’s no problem!
It seems that the starting torque has little impact; it is issues such as medium crystallization and blockages that are likely to affect the mechanical seal
Vent and drain the sealed chamber to prevent air bag formation! Start the disc pump before operation to prevent the moving ring from sticking!
