Our screw has just been replaced for two days and something like this happened. Every time we replace it with a new one, it will be like this after two or three days. The material inside is colloid. Does anyone know what the problem is?
Temperature or materials encounter low-temperature crystallization, resulting in seal failure. Add thermal insulation and jacketing to prevent the material from crystallizing, change the sealing material and structure, and use a double-end backwash seal.
The temperature of our material is about 60 degrees, and there is almost not much residence time in the screw. Of course, adding backwash or backflush can be considered, thank you brother
The mechanical seal is leaking. The logistics transported by the positive displacement pump generally have high viscosity, large solid content, and solidify after cooling. Considering the material's limited ability to cool and lubricate the mechanical seal, you can consider adding a circulating flush to improve it. If it still doesn't work, add additional flushing.
The tail end of the spiral auger can be modified and a baffle plate with a diameter slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the auger housing can be welded to the shaft near the flange cover plate, which can provide a good sealing effect.
If you want to get it done once and for all, just measure the dimensions and make a suspension to let all the leakage material flow out.
There will be improvement if the first-stage spiral diameter is enlarged and moved closer to the end plate.
