Regarding the requirements for the lapping contact spots of sliding bearings, the contact area also helps to determine how to identify these contact spots
Red lead powder mixed with machine oil or Prussian blue is used as a developer; it is applied to the bearing shells so that the shaft and the bearing shells can grind against each other. The higher areas will appear bright (in the absence of a developer). By using rough scraping, fine scraping, and precise scraping, the number of contact points is increased gradually – the more contact points there are, the larger the contact area
