On May 16, the large semi-submersible transport vessel FORTE, carrying the A1EA and A1EB modules for Canada’s LNG project, slowly departed from the Qingdao terminal operated by CNOOC Engineering, marking the departure of the world’s first batch of LNG modules built in China with integrated core process units and pipelines on their way to Canada. It is understood that the total distance of this shipment is over 5,000 nautical miles, and it is expected to arrive at the project site in Canada in early June. It is reported that CNOOC Engineering has been contracted to build 35 modules for the first phase of a LNG project in Canada, including all 19 core process modules, with a total weight of approximately 179,000 tons. To date, all 35 modules of the project have commenced construction and assembly, with 5 modules already delivered successfully; the overall construction progress has exceeded 80%.
It is reported that the first phase of Canada’s LNG project plans to build 2 production lines, with an annual output of 13 million tons. Once the project is completed and put into operation, it will supply liquefied natural gas to major Asian consumer markets such as China, which will help diversify China’s sources of natural gas imports. CNOOC Engineering has been contracted to build 35 modules for the first phase of a Canadian LNG project, including all 19 core process modules, with a total weight of approximately 17.9 tons. The first public core process module arrived at the installation site of the Canadian project in March this year. At present, all 35 modules of the project have begun construction and assembly; 32 of these modules have already undergone final assembly, with the overall construction progress reaching nearly 80%.
