On June 14, 2022, Deyang Guangda Dongqi New Materials Co., Ltd. conducted operational tests on the newly introduced intelligent grinding robots. The outer cylinder, over 6 meters long and weighing around 100 tons, was lifted to the testing site. Industrial robots moved nimbly along tracks, polishing the surface of this massive structure in various positions. There were no workers on site, only sparks flying everywhere.
Casting is the foundation of all industrial sectors and is known as the \"mother of industries,\" yet the casting industry has long faced various problems such as high labor intensity, poor working conditions, and severe environmental pollution. Especially in the cleaning and polishing process of castings, manual polishing is time-consuming and labor-intensive; dust fills the air, noise is deafening, the working conditions are extremely harsh, and safety risks are high. The emergence of intelligent grinding robots is expected to change the current practice of using manual grinding across the entire casting industry, helping it to shed its traditional image of being bulky and unsophisticated. In response to strong market demand, Chengdu Feijiang Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. has collaborated with Sichuan Engineering Vocational and Technical College to carry out industry-university-research projects. Research and development on this project began in 2016; it was listed as a key research project in Sichuan Province in 2018, and the first generation of the product was successfully launched in 2019. It achieved something unprecedented on a global scale, filling a gap in the industry. Currently, intelligent grinding robots have been put into use at companies such as China National Heavy Machinery Corporation, as well as in Shandong and Jiangsu provinces.
