On the morning of September 20, the commissioning ceremony for China National Petroleum Corporation’s largest general-purpose hydrogenation catalyst project – the 5,000-ton/year general-purpose hydrogenation catalyst technology upgrade project – was held at Fushun Petrochemical Company. Yang Hongbo, Secretary of the Fushun Municipal Party Committee and Vice Mayor, leaders from seven oil refining companies including Liaoyang Petrochemical and North China Petrochemical, Ge Shaohui, Deputy Director of the China National Petroleum and Chemical Research Institute, Song Yuntong, Deputy General Manager of Fushun Petrochemical Company, Zhao Baohong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Head of the Trade Union, Zhang Zhongyang, Deputy General Manager for Safety, as well as representatives of relevant departments of the company, construction units, supervision agencies, the Third Oil Plant, and the Catalyst Plant – a total of over 300 people attended the ceremony. The 5,000 tons/year technical upgrade project for general-purpose hydrogenation catalysts is a key project designated by the group company. The approved total investment for this project is 301 million yuan, and the total floor area of the facility is approximately 15,000 square meters. It includes two hydrogenation catalyst production lines; all processes make use of Fushun Petrochemical’s own technologies, with design work carried out by Changling Refining & Chemicals Yueyang Engineering Design Co., Ltd. These production lines are capable of manufacturing a full range of hydrogenation catalysts used in hydrogenation refining, hydrocracking, and residue hydrogenation processes. In terms of production technology, this facility has overcome technical challenges such as high dust levels and ammonia leakage, and it strictly adheres to the “zero emissions” requirements set by environmental regulations. By actively promoting differentiated treatment and resource utilization, efforts are being made to create a facility that achieves zero emissions. The production scale, as well as the level of automation and intelligence of this device, are among the best in China. Construction of this project officially began on March 24, 2020. During that period, the COVID-19 pandemic was raging across the country, which had a significant impact on the timing of the delivery of large-scale equipment to the site. Construction companies such as Jilin Chemical Construction and Zhongtian Construction also faced various difficulties due to the impact of the pandemic, as not all their workers were able to arrive on site. Faced with difficulties, nearly a thousand project builders stepped up to the challenge and made steady progress. Song Dayong, the executive director of the company, and Bai Gang, the general manager, have visited the site on multiple occasions to provide guidance and address challenges encountered during construction. Secretary Song said at the construction site of the general hydrogenation production line: \"Catalysts will become an important factor in ensuring the excellence of the company’s future products and its strong brand identity, helping Fushun Petrochemical to become a giant in the product sector.\" ”
