This calibration successfully tested the adsorption yield of the device under various load conditions as well as the purity of the raffinate, and the results showed that the key performance indicators met the design requirements. When used alone in ethylene production, adsorbed naphtha as a feedstock yields an ethylene yield of around 41%, which is about 12% higher than that achieved with conventional naphtha, demonstrating excellent performance. The world’s first naphtha adsorption separation unit technology was jointly developed and applied by Sinopec Yangzi Petrochemical and the U.S.-based company UOP. At Yangzi Petrochemical, the world’s first pre-hydrogenation plant with a capacity of 1.3 million tons per year and an industrial plant with a capacity of 1.2 million tons per year were built; these plants were brought online successfully on the first attempt and have since operated steadily.
